6. Do I need to send a seed sample?

Answer: The applicant may get a filing date and application number without providing a seed sample by using the direct deposit option that is described in Sections 97.6 and 97.7 of the PVP regulations. With this option, the voucher seed sample must be deposited within three (3) months after the filing date and must consist of 3,000 untreated seeds that germinate at 85 percent or greater. The seed sample should consist of breeder seed. The voucher sample for tubers will be requested just prior to the issuance of the Certificate and associated procedures and costs will be explained at that time.
