Non Manipulation Certification
The Specialty Crops Inspection (SCI) Division Non Manipulation Certification provides assurance that the product’s identity was preserved and that it was stored under suitable conditions and the condition of the container shows no apparent signs of tampering or reprocessing.

This is accomplished by an on-site evaluation of a warehouse facility to assess the facility’s compliance with current regulatory, condition of container and industry requirements.

The results of a non manipulation certification can serve several purposes including:

  • to determine whether a warehouse processing facility adequately stored the food product;
  • to verify the identity of the food product (from point of origin to final destination); and
  • to determine whether the condition of the food container indicates a food product was reprocessed or manipulated during storage.

The Non Manipulation Certification service is available on a fee basis from USDA’s SCI Division.
