OECD Seed Schemes establishes voluntary international rules used by approximately 58 participating countries to certify and label agricultural seed for varietal purity for international movement. They implement rules for 7 crop groups: grasses and legumes, crucifers and other oil or fiber species, cereals, maize and sorghum, beet, subterranean clover, and vegetables. The OECD operates on the basis of consensus decision making. AMS is the Designated Authority for the OECD Seed Schemes for the United States. The LPS Program, Seed Regulatory and Testing Division oversees the program in the United States and serves as head of delegation to the OECD Seed Schemes annual meeting.
