Refrigerated Transport: The
Agreement on the International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs and on the Special Equipment to be Used for such Carriage (ATP) (.pdf), governs inland refrigerated transportation of frozen food and chilled meat, poultry, dairy, fish, seafood, and fresh-cut vegetable products, primarily between European countries that signed the ATP. AMS provides certification upon request for U.S. refrigerated transportation equipment exported to those countries.
USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service and Agricultural Marketing Service, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Food and Drug Administration provide guidance to ensure that meat, poultry, egg products, and other perishable foodstuffs do not become adulterated during transportation.
