The Fruit and Vegetable Marketing Order and Agreement Division of the Agricultural Marketing Service is responsible for monitoring imports of fruits, vegetables and specialty crops regulated by Section 8e of the Agricultural Marketing Agreement Act of 1937.
Located in Washington, D.C., the Division monitors all 8e import entries that fail inspection, go un-inspected, or are declared exempt. We also conduct audits of importers and exempt receivers to determine if they are submitting all 8e imports for inspection, and that exempt product is used in accordance with the regulations.
Please note that a quality inspection conducted by AMS for 8e purposes is different from inspections conducted by the Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service.
