If you are interested in becoming a member of the American Lamb Board, you:
- must be a producer, feeder, seedstock producer or first handler who markets or handles lamb or lamb products in the United States and pays the mandatory assessment.
- Must be nominated by a Certified Producer Organization and submit a completed application.
For the 2015 Board, there are two vacancies for Producers, one vacancy for a Feeder, one vacancy for a seedstock producer, and one vacancy for a First Handler. Composed of 13 members representing two geographical regions, the Lamb Board administers a research and promotion program authorized by the Commodity Promotion, Research, & Information Act of 1966. The Secretary of Agriculture selects appointees from producers nominated by Certified Producer Organizations.
All eligible producers, feeders, and first handlers are invited to seek nomination for a seat on the Board by the May 16, 2014, deadline.
