Program Benefits  
The work of the Standardization Branch benefits everyone in the United States as well as people throughout the world. Employees of the Dairy Standardization Branch develop, maintain, and distribute:
  • Sanitary requirements and model regulations to enhance the availability of safe, wholesome, high-quality dairy products
  • Definitions for product quality and wholesomeness
  • Requirements for participation in the USDA-Approved Dairy Plant Program
  • Model state requirements for the sanitary production and processing of manufacturing grade milk and milk products
Standardization Branch actively participates in the development and revision of international dairy standards to protect public health, enhance export opportunities, and ensure fair trade practices for dairy products in international trade as well as acts as internal auditors of Dairy Grading Branch programs.
